The Rongai route is one of the lesser-traveled paths to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. This route typically takes 7 days to complete, allowing for gradual acclimatization to the high altitude.
The Rongai route starts on the northern side of the mountain, offering a unique perspective and a sense of isolation from the busier routes. The trail passes through diverse landscapes, including lush rainforests, moorlands, and alpine desert, before reaching the summit at Uhuru Peak.
One of the key highlights of the Rongai route is the stunning views of the Kenyan plains to the north and the Mawenzi Peak to the east. The route is considered to have a moderate difficulty level, making it suitable for climbers of varying experience levels.
Overall, the Rongai route is a great option for those looking for a quieter and more scenic climb up Mount Kilimanjaro, with a slightly longer duration to aid in acclimatization and increase the chances of a successful summit.Â
